PILICA CYCLE ROUTE
Between Krakow and Warsaw

 

 

Frrom the starting point on castle hill Smolen (60 km from Krakow)...
...we cycle easy...
... and fast...
to the springs of Pilica.
The river as "Baby" under the first bridge
In little town also named "Pilica"
we discover a nice market square
and wooden cottages
River Pilica as "little child"
Formerly living trade centre, now forgotten town - Zarnowiec
Renovated country manor, our future accommodation near Zawada
River is getting bigger... a "youngster"
Easy cycling on flat tarmac roads through villages...
...pine forests and heathlands...
...along roads lines with willow trees...
...to the town Przedborz.
Then again - we pass blooming lime trees...
...and Black Mulleins.
Here is the river already "adult" - we meet the first canoes

in the former cistersian monastery.

In the morning we cycle through Spala
towards the huge WW2 railway bunker in Konewki

End of the daily tour
in a nice hotel
"Dworek nad Pilica" (Pilica-Manor)
- you can eat and dring directly at the river
Last daily tour. we pass the orchards,
Polands smallest town
- Wysmierzyce -
and finish the tour in Warka
Here, not far from Warsaw, Pilica flows into Vistula
so, we finish our cycle tour
in a four star hotel "Sielanka"
